Re: Thinkpad Yoga - trouble with cursor jumping and closing programs

Hello Nikolai,

You can open Norton product, click on Support > About to find the exact version. If you suspect Norton causing this problem, you can try disabling or uninstalling Norton temporarily to check this.

Thanks!

Harry

Hi Harry!

IMHO Norton is not a source of a problem as it is for sure depends on how I start a PC - with a lid closed (single external screen) or lid open.

I've tried disabling all Norton services with the same false-clicks. Although I cant see "ripples" of false-clicking when I start in dual-monitor config.

So I still suspect it to be some "statics" from the PC base when lid is closed. I guess Lenovo should turn-off a touch panel along with an LCD when the lid is closed - it's not needed anyway.

Best,
Nikolai

Is there a way to summon a Lenovo Engineer in this thread? :)

That would be great. Please Lenovo, do something!

I have the same issue with my Thinkpad Yoga (20CD0001GE) and my dock (Onelink Pro). Whenever I close my notebook when it is docked the mouse cursor starts jumping around randomly.

I have tried the following:

  • Change settings of the Mouse in Windows 8 System Control
  • Uninstall the ThinkPad UltraNav Driver

Neither of those changes solved the problem. So, I guess it must really be the touchscreen.

@Lenovo: My investment of quite some money into Lenovo hardware feels like a joke with an issue that big. The result is, that I have to keep my notebook open when docked, which is definitely not what I intended when I bought the Onelink Pro. I hope you fix this issue. I like the hardware, but the software issues are a shame. Any cheap notebook I had before had less issues than my pretty Thinkpad Yoga...

Apparently, aluminum foil can not only be used to build precious tinfoil hats, but to solve this bug as well! :robothappy:

The first thing I did was placing a sheet of paper between the keyboard and the screen on my closed notebook. That didn't do it. The cursor still jumped.

Then I put a sheet of aluminum foil between keyboard and screen (closed notebook aswell). Tadaa! That did it. See for yourself. :)

@Lenovo: That doesn't mean that you don't have to work on this issue anymore. If you'll never realease a fix for this issue I simply won't buy anymore Lenovo hardware. I bought a premium product, and I expect what I pay for. Bugs of this dimension should simply not exist at all. And if they exist, there should be a fix. We haven't heard from any spokesperson about this issue. We don't know if a fix is being prepared, which is a shame.

Great! I'll try it as soon as I'm at home!
Meanwhile I've opened a support ticket and the support team can't reproduce the problem.
They want me to clean install the system claiming it is a software...
I doubt it is but will do it this weekend...

I've also found this topic, but didn't have a chance to check yet:

Ok,

So you are looking to ensure the touchscreen is turned off while lid closed and are concluding that it is the touchscreen rather than the trackpoint since tinfoil made a difference where paper did not?

I know we had a BIOS and driver update on the Twist to turn off the trackpoint when the lid was closed for similar reasons and that is also a touch screen.

Not sure how widespread this ?

Did the digitizer update change this for you?

Best regards,

Mark

Update, 6-2014
the problem still persists.
it's not happening as often, but the mouse cursor still jumps, periodically. I can't really attribute any particular cause, or any one-action that I'm doing that causes it to jump. Seems completely random.
Still don't have Adaware on the system, so that's not the problem.
