Touch Screen Dead Spots - Thinkpad Yoga 14

I recently discovered a vertical band where the touchscreen is half-dead in a vertical band.  If I draw horizontally quickly over the vertical band, it will draw over.  However, drawing vertically and drawing slowly horizontally over the dead area is not detected.  Refer to the picture where the white space is between the two orange lines.

I'm using my finger (touch input).  The screen is Wacom ready but I don't have a Wacom pen.

Any suggestions?

It's hard to be sure without seeing it, but I am guessing that some of the fine wires in the digitizer are cracked.  Are you under warranty?
