Update of Intel Management Engine fails

2017-06-21, 20:51 PM

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14. I'm using Lenovo's tool "System Update 5". This indicates there's an update for "Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware -7 [32,64]/8.1/10 [64]". When installing using the Lenovo tool, I get the following error message: "error 8743 Unknown or unsupported platform" (screenshot: http://imgur.com/a/wvcX8) What should I do? I googled the error message but am unable to understand the complex discussions I found for this error message.

*Update 23-June: I installed the Intel driver update manager (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html?iid=dc_iduu). The only driver that needed updating was for wifi. I installed that but it did not change my problem. Any suggestions what to do?

Update: I've also tried updating by downloading Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware (so not using Lenovo's tool "System Update 5"). Unfortunately, it produced the same error message as in the original post. I've also contacted Intel and they responded the update has to come from Lenovo so it's a Lenovo problem they cannot help with.

Upon contacting Lenovo support, they are only offering to take the laptop in for repairs.

have a simmilar problem - System Update reports update was successful, but if I run it again, it indicates there's a critical update for "Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware -7 [32,64]/8.1/10 [64]

:-)

Do you have any news on that topic?

Ever since IME firmware 11 was released I get an update notice via ThinkVantage System Update and via Support-Webpage to update the firmware. I tied every released version (4 up to now). Every single one faild with "Unknown or unsupported platform"

So, is there actually any one out there that has successfully updated their ThinkPad Yoga 14 IME firmware?

I'm not trying anymore either, it's not working. I do find it troubling, given that it's an essential security update.
