My thinkpad yoga12 is recently getting pretty hot in the place above the f5-f12 keys. But the fan doesn't start. So I wonder if I can somehow check if the fan is still working. Maybe set it to 100% manually. I am a bit afraid of killing my laptop because of heating under heavier loads right now.

Hi, welcome to the forums.
It may be a hardware issue from dirt on the fan or even a faulty fan. Do you feel any activity, vibration on the fan ever? or it is complete quiet always?
It can be interesting to monitor the temperature of your Think with some tool like HWMonitor.
Also, just it case if it may be a old/missing driver, I recommend updating the drivers to the latest version. You can use the "Lenovo Companion" software which is the easy way to update drivers.
Give it a try and report back with more information.
