Yoga 260 refuses to use 4K resolution on external display

2019-09-20, 12:13 PM

I have attached an external 4K display (Samsung U28E590) to Yoga 260 (with Win10) through HDMI, but it's able to use only half of the resolution (1920 x 1080). When I attach an Acer laptop, the full resolution is available (--> shouldn't be cable or display problem). I have reinstalled the driver and it should be on the latest level.

Any hints, where to look further the problem ?

Are you sure you either used Extend these Displays or Single and not Clone mode?

Clone mode will restrict your resolution to your laptop resolution.

I'm using with extended display, so this ain't the limiter.

My guess is that the problem relates to PIP mode. I somehow managed to reset display back to 4K mode during a transport. Magically the 4K resolution was back (with the same laptop & cables), so my guess is that detaching everything for longer time resetted the display. To test my theory, I turned PIP on and off, and I'm back with the lower resolution. Now struggling with resetting again (maybe I should take the monitor back to my car :- ).
