Yoga 370 mute speakers problem

Hi, I'm very happy with my brand new Yoga 370. Much nicer display than my old Yoga 12.

Type 20JH

Stock Lenovo install of Win 10 Pro that I switched to Windows Insider/Fast Ring...Build 16199.rs_prerelease.170513-2252. No USB or external speakers/headset connected.

When I press F1 the light on the key comes on, and the speaker icon changes to show speakers muted. However, any app or program that makes sound still makes the sound. So the speakers aren't really muted.

This works just fine on my old Yoga 12 on the same OS build, same apps, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Yoga 370 mute speakers problem

Hello,

It sounds like you've exercised a bug in the beta build of Windows 10 that was installed on the Yoga 370.  I would recommend reporting this to Microsoft via the Feedback app.

I have this exact same problem.  It always occurs with auto play videos on websites.

Re: Yoga 370 mute speakers problem

I think I figured this out finally - have seen this on other brand forums as well.

Seems to be a bug in the Win 10 Conexant audio drivers.

I loaded up Lenovo Companion and ran an update - as soon as the Conexant audio driver updated the sound worked normally again.

There's a good chance you'll need to re-do this after major Windows Updates as well - I'm insider fast-ring and every update seems to kill every driver.

Re: Yoga 370 mute speakers problem

Excellent! I thought I had done all the updates, but apparently I missed these. I did all the updates using the Companion and it seems to have fixed the problem. And yes, the Conexant auto driver update was one of them.

Thanks!

Re: Yoga 370 mute speakers problem

GolfingNerd, note that after a "major" Windows 10 update (like Creator's or Fall Creator's) we will probably need to reinstall the drivers.

Good luck!
