Yoga 460 ram?

So I recently got a new laptop, a Yoga 460. I did the normal thing of upgrading all the needed software before doing anything else, and Lenovo Companion said the maximum ram was 8 gig, but it also said I needed to update the bios. I update the bios, ordered some ram, and now Lenovo Companion says the maximum ram is 4 gig, I insert my new 8 gig stick of ram into the computer, and I just get a black screen. Did I shoot myself in the foot by upgrading the bios?

Re: Yoga 460 ram?

I would guess you could use a compatible 4GB, 8GB or 16GB DIMM.  What kind did you buy?  You need a low voltage 1.35V DDR3L stick

Re: Yoga 460 ram?

I have never had problems with Patriot memory, but I have never used that set.  Can you return it?

FWIW TPY460 supports 16GB sticks, too.
