Yoga S1 (20CD-0032US) LCD vertical line(s)

2015-12-12, 17:03 PM

I've had this laptop for almost two years and it gets used rather infrequently.  About a week ago, while on a flight, I powered it up and noticed three vertical lines that extend the entire screen.  After a few minutes two of the lines went away, but the third has been persistent for about a week.

I called Lenovo and took the laptop to an authorized repair depot.  They said that the LCD panel needs to be replaced.  Fine... BUT they can't seem to locate one!?  Have these LCD panels been discontinued?  What are my options?  Does anyone have a part number???

Hi

I don't know about Lenovo's stock, but you can check more about your computer with the Hardware Maintenance Manual.

I found the your model's one here:

https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/s1_yoga_hmm_en_sp40a26742_01.pdf

The information about the FRUs number should be on the Part Number search:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/partslookup

But it does not shows me any informaiton with your model number, maybe you can try your serial.

Sorry I can you give you any more ideas.

Regards

I also found this list of your part numbers for your model:

Hi, this helps a LOT thank you.  The part number lookup tool didn't work for either my part number or my seial number, it shows as "Found 0 parts for Machine Type - Model 20CD0032US"

However, the document you linked is better...although I'm confused with LCD I would need.  Mine has the touch, so I'm assuming I need "w/ Digitizer", but what is "AG".  Also what is the difference between "JTouch" and "Gunze"?  I thought this was a LG panel?

Argh, this is annoying.  The repair shops in my town aren't helpful at all (most of them have never worked on a Yoga), and some of them even want to charge me a "diagnostic" fee just to look at it.

Lenovo is being thoroughly useless here as they have even directed me to local repair shops that don't actually do repair work (way to go Lenovo).

I am thoroughly annoyed; and the problem persists (it disappeared for a few short minues recently, but is back again).

Any chance this is simple a loose ribbon cable?

My next course of action is to buy the panel only; anyone have a part number for that?
