mini-hdmi stopped working

 Hi, 

 

I have a lenovo thinkpad s430 with win 7 - 64bit. 

I've been using a mini-hdmi to VGA adapter for an old samsung screen for a couple of months with no problems. However yesterday it stopped working. Tried a mini-hdmi cable to a different screen which didn't work either. 

 

It is like the mini-hdmi port is just dead. I haven't updated any drivers or installing anything new recently. 

Tried restarting computer and screens, no results. 

 

Any suggestions?

Hi Lauge,

 

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

 

As I understand that you are facing issue with Mini- HDMI port not working in your S430.

First of all make sure that the Adapter which you are using is fine (means that can also be faulty).

And also try updating the drivers from Lenovo System Update and have a look.

Thank you for your reply. 

 

I've checked both caples which is working fine, same for the adapter. 

 

Downloaded  Lenovo System Update and updated the driver that wasn't updated (Hotkeys).

 

No change. 

 

Any other suggestions?

Hey again, 

 

Will you please check whether in Display Adapters Graphics drivers are present or not. And also in Device Manager under Monitors check whether external monitors are being detected or not?

If they are detected then its related to some settings otherwise might be a hardware issue.

 

Update us how it goes.

I'm not sure what you mean by: "Will you please check whether in Display Adapters Graphics drivers are present or not." 

 

I have a folder C:\DRIVERS\WIN\Graphics containing severel folders.

I've downloaded all drivers under the subsection "Display and Video Graphics" for win 7-64bit

Was that what you wanted me to check? 

 

No external monitors are detected in the device manager. You think it is a hardware issue?

Sorry if I was not precise enough, I'll share you some snaps of Device Manager just for the reference.

Also you can check in Graphics properties for Multiple monitor & see if its detect any external monitor.

Update us how it goes.

Device Manager shows something similar: "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

In <Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution> no other display is detected when clicking the "Detect" button.

If that's the case after updating all the drivers no external monitors are detected by system then we are suspecting that its an hardware issue.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem and it is not a hardware error as the port works fine when using some Mini-HDMI to VGA cables.

 

My Mini-HDMI port worked fine for 2 years with my LENOVO USB 3.0 TO DVI/VGA (0B47072) cable and it worked with both my external screen on work, my screen at home and with different projectors. Then it suddently stopped working - both at work and at home.

I therefore tried using the port with colleagues cable and all was good. Therefore I ordered a new Mini-HDMI to VGA ... which didn't solve the problem - neighter at work nor at home ... and then I ordered a new one, which didn't solve the problem either ... 

 

I think Lenovo Yoga has a problem with the Mini-HDMI port (or with HDMI ports altogether? Try googling 'lenovo my (mini)HDMI port stopped working'. Do you have any suggestions?
