5120x1440 resolution is missing for external monitor

2020-05-08, 12:45 PM

Hello, I just bought a new monitor Philips 499P9H/00. I have a problem with my computer T490s and 5120x1440 resolution on this monitor because I use USB-C and the maximum resolution as for external monitor I can see only 3830x1080 (Recommended). I have latest BIOS and Intel Graphics 620 drivers updated.

I have tested this monitor and the cable with other computers like: MacBook Pro (2019), Dell XPS 13 9360 and they do show resolution 5120x1440 and monitor does work with them. So its not the monitor nor the cable problem. I know that MacBook Pro uses Intel 630 and its newer, but Dell XPS 13 uses the same Intel 620 with the same supported resolution output. Both Dell and Lenovo computers have the same Intel driver version too.

Any suggestions on how should I make it work?

I'm in the exact same boat - I actually bought this laptop specifically to run my U4919DW. I've only had the T490 for a few hours and I'm on the cusp of returning it.

Some other things you might try that didn't work for me, but seem to have for others:

If you still have problems with this you can set a custom resolution in the Intel Graphics control panel. Remember to select the proper display in the bottom left before you add the custom resolution. Reboot and you should be good to go, select the resolution in the windows display menu.
