With regard to shipping and tracking numbers...

Fulfillment in Canada is a 2 step process.   After any front end order config or credit issues are cleared and an order is released to the factory and built, it ships to Canada in typically 5-7 days.   There is no tracking number available for this portion of the shipment.   Once the order lands in Canada and clears customs, it is reshipped to the end customer location.   At this point, tracking by UPS or other freight carrier is available.   Transit times inside of Canada vary 3-5 days typically.

Customers will receive a shipping confirmation email when the order leaves the factory.   I suggest allowing 7 days from that date before calling sales to inquire for the tracking number as they are unlikely to have it until then.

This is what I don't get . . . On the previous shipping thread and also the one at forum.thinkpads.com (check out, for example, SouthPaw42 on page 56) it was evident our neighbours from the south are able to track their orders from the factory! Why is this priviledge extended to USA and not to Canadian customers?! I still think Lenovo Canada's shipping process is flawed . . .

Just to chime in,

I received an e-mail after I placed an order (I suppose automated) and the e-mail (confirmation of order) did include the order number as well as a very general product description.

What would be nice, however, is if the order confirmation e-mail included a listing of the specs (components) as ordered so as to avoid any confusion/consternation on the part of the customer.

Mark, thanks for the overview of the order/build/delivery process, clears things up.

So once the order goes in and credit cleared, the machine is built and arrives in Canada 5-7 business days following the initial order and confirmation - correct? Is that when Lenovo sends out an e-mail detailing the specs on the latop?

I was banned for not tolerating being bullied by some hillbilly mod or his carbon copy.

I called for the ban. I had also asked for all my posts to be removed, and they weren't.

I somehow suspect all my wishes are going to be granted now :smileyvery-happy:

Rather befitting a mod who could delete an entire thread, isn't it?

hm,
Mark said the credits were submitted on the 7th, and I contacted virtual sales (and yes they did charge me for warranty upgrade, even after I told them not to charge me until refunds are complete!!!!).
and they responded, it usually takes two weeks for it to get processed. I'm pretty bad with math, can some one tell me if it's been two weeks already??? because my calendar says it has been!!!!!

At this point, I trust mark for telling me the actual date that the refunds were submitted, but Mr. Virtual Sales (who ever this is)...., Isn't business conduct and business ethics course mandatory or have they never taken ethics in school??? What happened to the old listening and not lying to people thing??? seriously, where the heck is MY money....

-Save the file in the original CSV format.
-Return the email to thinkpls@ca.lenovo.com with the completed CSV file
attached.
-Lenovo will register the Lenovo ThinkPlus Maintenance Services

Once the above steps have been completed, to place a call for service, ....

If you have any questions/concerns regarding this e-mail, ....

Now, when you look inside the attached CSV file, the purchase date is clearly indicated as 01.03.2008.

I'm therefore supposed to register a machine:
a) I don't have a serial # for;
b) I'm not even sure to have received 30 days from now;
c) I'm not even certain I won't return;
Or I will not receive a purchased service I didn't even purchase yet? Oops, wait until I check my credit card....

And even if I comply, I'll be losing an unspecified number of days on my warranty, since I haven't received anything yet.

I faced exactly the same scenario, Doggy. Unfortunately, my warranty is effective from the date I ordered the warranty (i.e., 24/12/2007) rather than the day my machine was shipped, let alone the day it arrived (late January 2008). So basically I'm out by a month of warranty . . . That's not fair, in my estimation. Further, despite the fact that I have received confirmation from two Lenovo representatives that my 3 year easy serve / thinkpad protection has been activated, when I look up the warranty status for my machine type and serial number I only have coverage until 12/24/2008 . . . It is far from confidence inspiring to see this lack of system integration and/or interdepartment communication at Lenovo. Is my warranty active or not? It's difficult to tell.

But I'm with you, Doggy. I'd like to have warranty coverage from the time I have the machine, NOT from the time said service was ordered. Because for Canadians, those two dates can be fairly far apart . . . Can you do anything about this, Mark?

Oh, and for the record, chinmoku_tak, I still haven't received my credits either. Patience wears thin.

Lengo, Doggy,

The service upgrades have to be tied to the model and serial of the system, so they are not activated until that information is logged by the process.  The start of the base warranty is when the machine ships, and the service pack will also key off that default warranty start date.

So, the most that you should lose off the warranty is the transit time while the machine is being shipped.

If you find that you have lost substantial actual time off the warranty - i.e. the online records don't match when the machine really shipped, then we can adjust the warranty date.

Lengo, I have your MT and Serial for the USB issue being worked.  Let me check status on your warranty and see why your upgrade hasn't applied.

Currently my warranty status shows an expiry date of 2008-12-24. My shipping details are:

---------------------------------
Package Progress
Location                         Date         Local Time Description
CONCORD,ON,  CA    22/01/2008      5:45     DEPARTURE SCAN
CONCORD,ON,  CA    21/01/2008    21:18     ORIGIN SCAN
CA                                 21/01/2008    19:01     BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED
Tracking results provided by UPS:  24/01/2008 22:16  ET
---------------------------------

Given that it left Concord, ON on 2008-01-22 that looks like a "lost" month of warranty to me . . .

Ok, WTF!?
I didn't know that you could scan your warranty, so I did....
and I found this following message.
Description:

This product has a three year limited warranty and is entitled to IBM EZServ service. Customers may call their local service center for more information. Dealers may provide carry-in repair for this product. Batteries have a one year warranty.

Isn't this regular warranty?? I spent over $400 for 4 Year Onsite 9x5 Next Business Day + 4 Year ThinkPad Protection with accidental protection... please tell me I'm looking at wrong place....

Re: New and improved T-series shipping thread

After I heard many "horror" story, I have enough patient to wait my T61. But the actual arrival day is really beyond my expection.  I ordered T61 on 14th, Feb and received my package yesterday. Considering the UPS guy's twice unsucessful delivery to my home, I have to say it's great (of course, not comparing with USA...). I appreciate Lenovo Canada's good reaction and the obvious improvement.

Just a minor problem, the ordered backpack isn't accompanying with the laptop packet. Good thing is my bank account doesn't get debitted for the backpack. It seems that Lenovo just ignored my backpack order. I am leaving the country soon. It seems that I can't get my backpack in time before I leave.

Anyway, here I want to ask a question about IWS. I usually have business trip between Canada and China every year. Since I bought it from Canada, obviously I should have warranty in Canada. I am just thinking if I can get warranty in HongKong which is one of the IWS regions of my T61 model (8897). How can I get warranty in Hongkong if it's not a option by default?

One more question, I found the Lenovo canada is having more discount now than when I ordered (14th, Feb). Is it possible to get the price difference as refund?
