Thanks Martin but I am not sure, if I understood the answer...  Lenovo cannot do nothing regarding this issue?

Re: Black screen after sleep and hibernate T480s

Yes , the full quote is:

"Bottom line is that RS1 will not be supported on the new platforms, and there is nothing we on our side can do about it. If that is an issue for this customer, please advise them to contact their Lenovo Sales Person or Lenovo Authorised Dealer,  if they stated that their Windows version is supported."

The RS1 (Redstone 1) is the 1607 edition of Windows 10. I have tried to explain the difference between LTSB and CB and all that. But the answer is the same.

This was actual the first answer (after a msinfo32 file was send to them):

"That is the root cause of the problem, because the latest devices, as the T480s, have full support for Windows 10 Build 16299 ( Version 1709, Redstone 3) and have compatibility issues with previous builds. At some point, drivers will be updated for Redstone 2, (1703, Redstone 2) but I am not aware of support for Redstone 1 (Version 1607) - the version the customer uses. If the customer updates to Redstone 3 (Falls Creator Update) he should not have any issues. "

So if any of you know how to get a 1709 edition of LTSB, please let me know (here are the releases that I know of: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows-10/release-information) ..

We ran into the same problem with our new T480s. Currently we also use the "do nothing when lid is closed"-workaround - which isn't something our users will be too thrilled about.

The next LTSB edition will apparently be either 1903 or 1909, so it is still a long time away.

Switching away from the LTSB is not an option, so a solution from Lenovo would be highly appreciated.

Thanks Martin for the info. It's not the answer that I want to hear from Lenovo. In fact, the next LTSB will be released end of 2018 or 2019. In the meantime we keep running our T480s in the current branch 1709.

Microsoft is supporting Windows 10 LTSB 2016 until year 2026 with Security updates and therfore it's a shame from Lenovo, that they say it's not supported anymore.

Hi,

I have the same problem with a newly purchased Lenovo T480s. Im using Linux Arch. So i guess this is not related to OS.

Did you find a good solution?

Hi
Try to enable "Thunderbolt BIOS Assist Mode" in BIOS or completely disable the Thunderbolt 3 interface (see screnshots). It helped to resolve problem with black screen after hibernate mode on Windows 10 LTSB 1607.

It actually works after installing KB4284833 (inc. all the latests Lenovo updates). I have just tried it on our company image.

0 person found this solution to be helpful.

This helped me too

Hi Martin

Thanks for the info. Do you have also changed the BIOS settings posted by AlexasnderRU one posting before? Or just installed KB4284833 and all the newest Lenovo updates?

We can not disable Thunderbolt 3 in bios because we have connected a Thunderbolt docking station.

I didn't change anything in the bios. I ran the lenovo update on a clean installation (ltsb installed from an iso), still not working, installed all the latest windows updates, then it worked. Then I tried on our company image (still w10 enterprise 1607): ran the lenovo updates, ... no changes, then the KB, then and now it is working

I am confirming that KB fully resolves problem without disable Thunderbolt interface.
