Bluetooth driver issues with version 6.2.1.1400

2010-04-22, 13:15 PM

I found the Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II driver version 6.2.1.1400 has multiple issues on my T400s with Windows 7 x64 DE-de:

1. Upgrade installation fails with an error message, if I start the setup again, it will actually deltree the C:\ hard drive (luckily I had a backup). I can reproduce this problem. If I first uninstall the old version 6.2.1.800 and then install the new driver, no errors occur.

2. The "Send-to-BlueTooth" COM-Add-In for Microsoft Outlook causes my Outlook 2007 DE-de to crash on closing. Dumpinfo as follows: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname:    OUTLOOK.EXE
Anwendungsversion:    12.0.6514.5000
Anwendungszeitstempel:    4a89dc70
Fehlermodulname:    StackHash_02d2
Fehlermodulversion:    6.1.7600.16385
Fehlermodulzeitstempel:    4a5bdb3b
Ausnahmecode:    c0000374
Ausnahmeoffset:    000cdcbb
Betriebsystemversion:    6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Gebietsschema-ID:    1031
Zusatzinformation 1:    02d2
Zusatzinformation 2:    02d211ae61c2dbc40ffb91239279a084
Zusatzinformation 3:    f52a
Zusatzinformation 4:    f52ac4b7be5f323208d1020ff95d6907

This error goes away on disabling the add-in.

Regards,

Hi,

this si due to the fact, that for some reason the Bluetootd Addin is disabled, or better say not accepted by Outlook.

So try following:

Open Outlook -> Tolls-> Options->Other->Advanced Options->Add-in manager and enable it.
Also make sure, that the add-in is not dissabled Help->About Microsoft office Outlook->Disabled Items.. -> if you see it here , then remove it from here.

The description was based on outlook 2003, so on 2007 its a bit different, but I think you can find it.

Let me know if this changes anything.

Cheers

JOL, a new version of the Bluetooth package was posted by Lenovo today:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70042

Version 6.2.1.1401

  • (Fix) Improved the uninstallation program.

Remember to check your backups first!

Post back here with your experience...

Hi!

When I try to update my bluetooth to the new Vesion (6.2.1.1401) I get the following error message

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/1904/errorvu.jpg  (sorry for the german)

Furthermore the tried update messed up my bluetooth installation. Now usually I would just uninstall the installed version but since it is version 6.2.1.1400 I am afraid of loosing the content of C:

Is there any solution to the update-problem I have or do I have to back up my C and hope for the best?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers

Dominik

Well, i had the same situation yesterday, today i tried to uninstal that Thinkpad Bluetooth 6.2.1.1400 and after restart immediately blue screen. I had to restore whole image from backup. So takae care, there's something really really wrong in uninstall process of that version 6.2.1.1400 probably.

Same exact issue here!

When I tried to update from 6.2.1.1400 to .1401, the HDD crashed with a BSOD (first one ever) and I lost most of my C:\ directory tree!!

I did have a backup from a couple of weeks ago, but now I'm wondering how I can get .1400 off my system without losing everything again?

This is serious!!!!

bwpotter, did you try to uninstall 6.2.1.1400 manually first, or did you just fire up the 6.2.1.1401 installer and let it do it's thing?

bananaman... I did not uninstall it first but rather, allowed the 6.2.1.1401 installer to do the uninstall process.  In hindsight, and after reading the readme.txt file, I probably should have done a manual uninstall of the 6.2.1.1400 drivers first.  However, I've never run into issues with package updates until this.  I can only imagine a lot of people are going to get bit by this though!

Guess I'll finish an up-to-date system backup and perhaps try a manual uninstall.

This looks like a problem on the other T series as well......I ended up posting my issue there (when I discovered it via google search):

Re: Bluetooth update killed my Windows 7

I wish I read this post before decide to move from  Bluetooth 6.2.1.1400 to  6.2.1.1401 on my T500 with Win7 Ultimate. As it uninstalled the BTH, it also stuffed up my file & folder structures.

Yep, lost all my data.......my hard drive lost over 90% of personal data incl. applications........NOT HAPPY!!!!! :smileymad:

Even though the hard drive shows new size, I have done a search using Recuva, the files are there but I cannot access them!!! I wonder if it has stuffed up the MBR???

Thank you so much for your post......otherwise I'll still be scratching my head!!! I'll be calling Lenovo tomorrow. Thank god, my computer still under warranty.

In the meantime, any suggestions to restoring the old file structure?

If you have a full backup, I would recommend a system-wide restore.  At a minimum, assuming you have the Factory Recovery discs, restore everything back to original factory condition.

Besides losing most of my personal data, the crash hosed all of the Lenovo_Recovery Q: partition as well as several files from the S: partition.  So I restored the unit using the Factory Recovery discs and then over-wrote C: with a recent backup image.
