Brand new Lenovo T490 freezing??

Hi guys,

 

So I just received this laptop 2 days ago. First time switching on the laptop and attempting to go through the setup, the screen had frozen. I thought nothing of it at first and thought maybe it's a new laptop and to give it some time.

 

I've been using the laptop today for work. Again the same thing happened after 30 minutes of use, except I got the blue screen with an error message. I tried to restart the computer and then the screen froze again and began artifacting? 

 

In the many many years I've owned a PC, I've only ever seen this when a GPU was faulty. A bit concerning considering I spend £1200 on this laptop...

Any help? Specs below:

 

-512gb ssd

-NVIDIA GeForce MX250

-Intel i7 856U

-Windows 10 Pro

-WQHD (2560x1440) Display

Hello Sheikh01,

 

First of all check the updates and drivers on with Lenovo System Update 

 

After, if you still have problems, you should try to install Lenovo Vantage  and perform a hardware scan.

 

If everything ok, and still have freeze or Blue Screen... maybe a clean install ... and try again .. after this .. lenovo support ?

Hey there, I'm getting severe artifacting. I can't even get past the load up screen before it just freezes and pixels pop up on my screen. Clearly it's a GPU issue? I think I will just need to go through the process of returning/replacing the item. It's quite a shame after reading all the reviews about how good Thinkpads are...maybe I just got unlucky. Wish me luck...I heard Lenovo's RMA/return/warranty service is not great at all.
