Connecting ThinkPad t460s to Thunderbolt Display

2017-06-09, 19:45 PM

I am trying to connect a ThinkPad t460s to my 27'' Apple Thunderbolt display. There's a port on the right hand side of my notebook which accepts the connection from the Thunderbolt plug, but nothing shows up on my display when I plug it in.

I am not a computer person and have no idea why this is happening. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome,

I wasn't aware that a T460s had a Thunderbolt port.

Looking at the (English) User Guide - ThinkPad T460s page 2 this is what I see for the right side ports:

Which one are you trying to use?

This is an old topic, but people might still end up here. The port that you're talking about is the DisplayPort connection. In some notebooks it can accept a Thunderbolt signal, but on the T460s it doesn't. The same applies to newer notebooks with USB-C: it might or might not be compatible with Thunderbolt.
