Create Recovery Media not working

2008-09-06, 3:11 AM
I've been trying to create a set of recovery discs for a couple of days now.  Every time I started it, the file would be on 1 CD, not the 7 CD's that I see many times on forums.  Today I googled the recovery media and found a step by step guide.  This guide included screen shots which when I saw, I realized the problem.  When I run the thinkvantage create recovery media program, I'm missing the bottom half of the dialog where it lets you do a factory CD.  My program has the top part where I can create rescue media, but not the bottom where I can do the big backup.  Instead it says "Note: DVD Ram is not supported."  What can I do?  Should I Uninstall the program and try reinstalling?  I really want to create a recovery set of DVD's.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

was your laptop a second hand unit??? you have to restore to factory setting using the harddrive service partition before you can create another one, or call Lenovo service and request one from them for a nominal fee.

Now how do I go about restoring from the service partition?  I tried interrupting normal startup but when the rescue and recovery centery runs, the option to restore to factory default is there, but when I try to do it, it says that this option has been disabled.
