Disabling the GPU?

2019-02-15, 4:15 AM

I have read the external ports might be connected to the dGPU and so disabling it will lead to the loss of those ports but can't find this option in the BIOS. Is this because the manual is a copy of the T470 and so the option is ommitted or it can't be disabled?

Starting from xx40 (Haswell) generation, only mobile Workstation class devices (only P series, excluding "s" devices, maybe X1 Extreme also support it, but hadn't had a possibility to check it) have an option to disable iGPU, dGPU is always enabled. Other devices probably doesn't have a component, which would enable this feature.

AFAIK, no external ports are connected to the dGPU; the dGPU also should not be used (and thus should hardly consume any power) in normal 2D mode.
