Majkball,

Apologies that the drivers have not been available for download on the website for you.  We are looking into this and will get resolved as quickly as possible.

While nothing would prevent you from using the ATI OEM drivers in theory, the Lenovo specific drivers are tested and are supported.   We should make the Lenovo ATI drivers available on the support site.

Best regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your help. It helps a lot when someone can confirm that the drivers are not available and that Lenovo is currently working with resolving this issue.

Best regards,

Mikael

Majkball,

Engineering is testing the ATI driver package and we expect to get it early next week and should then be able to have it on the web by middle of the week.

I'll continue to follow this, and the drivers may well be live on the web before I get back here to say they are...:smileywink:

Thanks for your patience.

Mark

Dear Mark,

I just bought the same model recently.  Knowing that the recovery partition and the recovery discs are unable to restore the system to a fully-functional factory setting, may I know whether Lenovo has any plan to compesate the users (i.e. by shipping out NEW recovery discs for free OR to recall the laptop)?

It would be too much to ask any user to download the drivers on the web as not all users are savvy enough to perform multiple manual installations and configuration.

I would appreciate if Lenovo could provide a one-step solution to this.  I believe a working set of recovery discs will do.

Many thanks.

Hippocrates,

I strongly suggest that you make an image of your system using a tool like Acronis. Should something go wrong you'll be able to get back exact same place when your created the image.

The recovery are almost always painful -- from any manufacturer.

Hi Bajpai,

I have already created a rescue and recovery media using ThinkVantage.  However, I believe it's the right of the consumers/users to request for a working set of recovery discs.  That is the only way we can restore the system to the clean factory state with the pre-loaded Windows Vista and appropriate drivers when needed.

Yo mark,

Glad that we'll be getting the driver by next week... can ask what about the other drivers(wireless/fingerprint/etc)? will they be uploaded to the support page anytime soon?..

for my case, i did a clean install before realising [1]i forgot to back up the C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS...and [2]lenovo support page don't have those drivers available.

i've been asking for help from the singapore forum.. but none are helping. (i need the wireless driver urgently)

Cmonkey,

I wasn't satisfied with the performance of the supplied driver for the wireless network card (keept crashing the connection), so I downloaded the latest driver from Intels website.Works flawlessy.

I used the driver for the 5100 card.
