Hi middleton,

first I would like to thank you sincerely for making these Ctrl-Fn mods.

Secondly, do you think you could make a Ctrl-Fn mod for SL410 ? I assume the current one posted here doesn't work for SL series, does it?

Thank you in advance,

Dan

PS.: My SL410 is a Czech version, but that shouldn't matter..

//Edit: the exact model is: Part number: NSP27MC, machine type-model: 2842-27G

//Edit2: I just sent you the 'empty e-mail' you wanted. Looking forward to hearing from you :smileyhappy:

Lenovo,

I have so much praise for the ThinkPad I own.  It is so very nice.......except for this "feature".

People use standard keyboards all day long and then when they unplug to use the laptop;s keyboard, you can't say "every other keyboard is marching out of step, ours is correct".

Why do you alienate and infuriate your customers by not providing a bios upgrade to existing models that are not very old, such as those listed in this post?

I purchased this laptop at the end of last year for work and so, while under warranty, I don't wish to void that by running a hacked BIOS.  But I'd very much like to download and install middleton's BIOS.

Currently, I've removed the Fn key from the keyboard so that I can be fairly productive when I use the laptop's keyboard.  It is so unfortunate, especially since it is a really nice laptop otherwise.  The main reason I purchased it is the TrackPoint mouse since fewer and fewer manufacturers provide this style mouse and Lenovo's is very nicely engineered!

While I am deeply frustrated (and worse) for Lenovo's decision to abandon those models that don't involve new sales regarding this issue, perhaps if we ask nicely?

Please?  Let's be reasonable: do some web searches regarding this issue to get an idea for how many users this annoys.

Take middleton's patch (with his permission; I'm sure he wouldn't mind), review it, test it and include it in the next BIOS releases for existing models.

Please support your customers, this is not a cheap laptop, and despite the nice TrackPoint, you are apparently losing customers (possibly myself included) by your refusal to support this.

Again, if we ask nicely?  Please?

Re: FN - CTRL swap on ThinkPad T400 / T500 keyboard [SOLVED]

Hi Middleton,

I've been asking Lenovo for this 'fn-Ctrl' swap functionality for the IdeaPad S10-2 for several months now, but they have not responded.

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-S-series-Netbooks/s10e-s10-2-fn-and-ctrl-keys-remapping-switch/m-p/185392

Is there any chance that you would be able to modify the s10-2 firmware too?

Thanks

Chris.

I've decided to gather all my CTRL-FN BIOS mods in one place. This is impossible on this forum because each laptop series has its own subforum. So all CTRL-FN BIOS patches are moving to http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=474396.

You can find a link to the IdeaPad S10-2 patched BIOS at notebookreview's forum.

I'd like to second kentbower's statement. Why anyone would build a keyboard with the by far most important key for involving shortcuts not being at the very bottom left is completely beyond me. But not delivering a Bios update with which we can at least switch the two keys for a machine so expensive (T400) is simply put just an affront to customers. I for one only now discovered middleton's patch and I'm about to install it, thank you so very much middleton.
