Fan is not stable and causing laptop not to boot for Thinkpad T480S

2020-09-12, 18:58 PM

Hello All,

after diagnosing and restarting many times, I have the following problem with my laptop fan

  My laptop is : T480S

The first run in the morning , the computer boot successfully with no error during the boot and windows starts.

after about hour working or more, if I rebooted the pc, it stop at boot and throw the error : "Fan Error" with two long beebs.

the I shut it down for several hours or left it to second day, then start it , it starts successfully

Well , I opened the laptop to check the signal coming to the fan from the motherboard

when the laptop fails to start, I can see no signal (even power signal +5ve) is coming to the fan

when the laptop starts successfully, there is power signal coming to the fan.

Also during successful start, the fan does not run all the time, it stops after a while when login to the windows ( is it normal ? )
