First time Thinkpad user, Question about new T400

2008-09-22, 5:36 AM

I have wanted a thinkpad for a long time due to their legacy, recently I have finally pulled the trigger and got a T400. The laptop has been amazing, better than any of my previous laptops. There is a slight problem though.

When I ordered, I forgot to add the internal bluetooth. After searching around, I found FRU #42T0969 which is for the bluetooth module. Is it as simple as buying this module and installing it? Are there any antenna wires or connectors I would be missing? I noticed the indicator panel under the lcd does not have a spot for a bluetooth indicator light. Does that have to be replaced as well? Most importantly, will I void my warrenty by doing this?

Bluetooth module isn´t a CRU, and could not be replaced by customer and you will void your warranty.

If you are an experienced technician you will we problably able to do this fix by yourself, if there wil be antennas.

But warranty is the same problem.

I would suggest to buy small usb bluetooth stick, there are a lot of at the markets.

Or send it back, get refund and restocking fee and buy a new one.
