Flexibility on choice of replacement AC adapter/charger?

2021-04-26, 17:27 PM

I have  a T590 which came with charger model ADLX65YCC2D.  It's 65W, USB-C, 2-prong power cord for 120VAC US.  I need a second charger so I don't have to haul this charger around with the computer.  I'm sure Lenovo would sell me one, but I'm on a tight budget, and would prefer to buy a lower cost adapter.  But I'm not finding much for that exact model number, and wonder if, for example, a three-prong plug version would work just as well.  Generally, there appears to be variety in the last four characters of the model number - CC2A, CC3A, LC2A, etc.  Does anyone know what these characters designate, or which ones don't matter?

And of course if anyone has good experience with an inexpensive charger in the US, a link to that would be welcome.

I think they are all OK.  Regarding the last 4 characters, I think the first of the 4 is the manufacturer.  (C = Chicony, L = Lite-On, etc.)  You don't care.  The 3rd is the number of prongs n the wall cord, 2 or 3).  You don't care unless you only have 2-prong outlets.  I would use whatever is cheapest, as long as it has a U.S. wall cord.  I avoid aftermarket chargers.  Some are OK, but I think many are junk,

Somewhere in the $25-30 range including shipping.  There are a number of 65W chargers at Amazon and elsewhere within that range, but they just aren't exactly like mine.  Some even claim to be genuine Lenovo parts, which I suspect may not be the case.

Thanks, richk.  The last letter appears to be either a D or an A.  Any idea what that might be?

Well, I'll see if anyone else has a suggestion, and then just pick on that looks good.  Some I've seen have as much as 20% bad reviews on Amazon, while others have a more typical 3%.  So there clearly is a difference in quality.

I just wanted to report that I ended up buying this one:

What I received ends in LC3D.  Seems to be genuine Lenovo.  Seems to work fine so far, but time will tell.
