You didn't mention what kind of Thinkpad or OS you use, but based on your previous posts it seems like you got a T400 running a clean install of Windows 7. Is that correct? Is it Windows 7 x64 or x86?

Did you install the power management driver and the power manager software?

Do you see any devices in device manager with missing drivers?

I would recommend that you download and install "system update 4.0" and run this software. Then you will be given a list of drivers and software from Lenove for your computer and you can choose which one of them you want to download and install. The other options is to download and install each one of them manually which is a pretty time consuming process. I was referring to both the "power manager driver" and the "power manager". One of them is a driver and the other software that will give you some extra options.

If you right click on the "Computer" icon and choose properties then click on the "device manager" at the top left.

To use system update make sure you get version 4.0 since the 3.x version is for Vista and older OS. Version 4.0 is for Windows 7. Access Connections should not be related to the Fn-F9 feature that doesn't work.

i had installed the relevant drivers by using the update when i finished installing my windows 7.

i was just pointing out that i had not installed the access connections.

Had read somewhere in the forum that the easy eject utility does not apply for windows 7. Is that true?

Yes easy eject does not apply for Windows 7. It's for Vista and XP only.

Unless i'm wrong Fn-F9 does not require easy eject to work using Windows 7, but you still didn't say what kind of Thinkpad you got.

You said you updated the relevant drivers does that include the power manager? Also are you saying it's still not working with the Fn-F9?

I miss using Fn-F9 to eject my USB keys in Windows 7 too.

From what I've gathered here, Fn-F9 does not eject USB keys in Windows 7.

Perhaps I'm missing something then... what is the purpose of the Fn--F9 key in Windows 7?  When I press it, nothing happens on my unit either.

Fn + F9 used to bring up the Lenovo EasyEject when it's installed, and provided a quick way to eject devices.

However, EasyEject has not been updated to be compatible with Windows 7 so right now, Fn+F9 does nothing, unless you have manually configured it to do something using other utilities or registry hacks.

Fn + F9 does not work on Win 7 on T61. This fucntion is for Win XP. But you can alway do the USB eject through systray "Safely Remve Hardware and Eject Media".
