Function keys not working + Shutdown stucks to black screen (BIOS problems?)

Hi,

 

I have a thinkpad 460p with all most recent drivers and BIOS. I have some problems with my laptop. At first, most function keys are not working (except mute, volume up/down, brightness up/down). However, the physical buttons are ok, as f4, f7 and so on work. The other problem is that computer stucks to a black screen after shutdown so that it is still on and I have to force it to shutdown completely by pressing power button for long. The third problem is that the keyboard backlight is not working. In this case I'm not however sure that the physical component is ok since I have just bought the laptop (from re-stock market).

 

My guess would be that these are related to BIOS or drivers but they are all in most recent versions and BIOS settings are set to default. What could help to resolve these problems?

Hello ,

1, Hot key issue.  Please try to download  and reinstall that Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 10 

2&3. Please run "check for update" via Lenovo Vantage APP . Make sure Power Management and driver is up to date . This APP can be find in MS APP staore.  

BTW, Please share you BIOS, OS ? Thanks!

1 I did that, no solution

2&3 For some reason 'check updates' button is inactive (grey) in my Lenovo Vantage app. However, I updated power management and its driver manually, no solution

 

My OS version is Windows 10 1909 build 18363.778 and my BIOS version is R07ET91W 2.31.

 

Any other ideas?

Hello,

Let`s fix Vantage issue first . Vantage APP can help to check all driver issue .

Please go to Settings->Apps-> App&features. Uninstall Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo Vantage Service .   Go to device manager->System device->Uninstall System Interface Foundation V2 Device .

Then go to Microsoft Store-> Install Lenovo Vantage APP again . Launch APP wait for config finished -> Run check for update-> Install all recommead updates.

Hi and sorry for taking so long to answer.

 

I reinstalled Vantage and was able to check updates. Only updated thing was Lenovo Active Protection System / Intelligent Cooling - 10 [64] - 1.82.0.20. It didn't had any effect to my problems.

Hello,

Could you try to do system reset ? Please connect to network and backup you data . Then Go to Settings->Update&Security->Recovery->Reset this PC->Keep my files .

I did that but it didn't help to any of my problems. That is kind of confusing as when I first time started to use this laptop couple months ago with clean Windows 10, function keys and shutdown worked properly. 

 

Have you other suggestions?

Hello, 

Did you have a USB recovery Key form Lenovo ? You can using it try to recovery system .
