Hard drive plastic tab for easy removal

2010-01-15, 8:12 AM

I am upgrading my hard drive on my T400 and I love that ibm/lenovo has attached a plastic tab for easy removal of their hard drive. I wondering if anyone has had success making such a tab for after market drives. Taping a plastic tab to one seems to be the most obvious solution but I want to know if the heat generated by the drive will melt things!

The plastic tab is part of the hard drive caddy. If you do a google search for them you'll find NewModeUs makes one

although it's not cheap. It's very similar to the factory one and works or else just remove your factory drive (4 screws) from the caddy and change to different hard drive. This is the way it works on T-500 at least.

Hope this answers your question!
