Intel Management Engine Software Driver Critical Update

2020-09-12, 21:31 PM

I have a new T53 ThinkPad and have been using Lenovo Vantage to regularly update the machine.  It has worked well until now.

I recently installed this "critical update":

Intel Management Engine Software Driver (Windows 10 Version 1709 or Later) - 10 [64] - 2013.14.0.1529

Successfully installed: 9/10/2020 5:33 AM

Package Size: 17.75 MB

Release Date: 8/26/2020

...and I thought nothing of it until I started seeing this very same critical update show up asking to be installed over and over again.

This perplexes me.

It also vexes me immensely in that the Lenovo "software support" people tell me that I have to bribe them (pay a support fee) to get to the cause and fix of this issue.

What can be done to make this "critical update" behave properly by installing once and not resurfacing over and over again?
