Re:Is there a way to connect T460s to ThinkVision M14 or other USB C DP Alt Mode device

2020-05-22, 7:07 AM

I watched that exact same video! I'm not sure how to test if the adapter is working or not - I will try to test it out later and post the results back here in the hope it helps other people!

Thanks for forwarding that link - I should have researched some more before buying the Wacom Link. Anyway, the Wacom Link plus is pretty pricey right now, so I might wait a bit before I decide whether to get this.

Will post back once I resolve this. But thanks a lot to you and @aUserHasNoName  and @bananaman  for responding - your help and advice is much appreciated!!

Hello, any updates? I got the Lenovo haha stuck with my desktop. Salesman lied and sold an expensive cable USB-C to HDMI

I think the conclusion is that to fully utilize a ThinkVision M14 you need a laptop with USB-C port which supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode.
USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

So, the final conclusion is that it is impossible to connect the M14 to a Thinkpad T460s?? If anyone got a solution, please let me know. It seems there is a couple of people asking this on internet.

There are several threads discussing solutions to this on the Accessories board, such as this one.

Thank you @Bananaman for the reply, the other forum had information about power supply that I needed.

Ok I think I sorted using the miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter and de DisplayPort to USB-C. It is important to remark the power supply should use the M14 cable (or a USB-C to USB-C power cable) and MUST be connected to a socket of 61W.

It is painful to make it work, but it worth.
