Re: Latest Power Management Driver Conflicts with Lenovo OSD

2018-08-31, 19:38 PM

So, for informational purposes:

After i restarted, again on screen displays do not work.

To go and start services manually, this is rather annoying for me, so i will proceed now to do the roll back.

Will be back to post.

(i need badly to be able to start the FN+F8 access connection thing, instead of entering control panels etc - after all this is why we buy ThinkPads, for some little things that make our lives easier)

Re: Latest Power Management Driver Conflicts with Lenovo OSD

So, the roll back of the driver did the trick.

I really thank very very much the person that posted it because i didnt think that power manager was a driver, rather i thought is a software and i was afraid to unistall and then try to install some older version (if i would find anywhere)

All things work:

on screen displays

FN+F8 to start the access connections

AND

i have the idea that system even starts faster like the old times (like in 10-15seconds - of course there is an SSD inside)

So, since i managed to live all that period with the old power manager without any problem, i guess i can live a bit longer too untill i see from system update to be proposed some newer version.

Thank you guys for the truely valuable information that you provided me.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I rolled back to the older driver and everything is fine. Great.
Hope that lenovo will fix this problem with the next update.

Texxo, power manager is a driver but there is also the software which we use to change power schemes and such, though is not the issue in this case

Re: Latest Power Management Driver Conflicts with Lenovo OSD

Thank you for the clarification.

My T460p is running like a bullet again.

The main issue for me was not the on screen display, it was the FN+F8 that brings up that access connections thing and i can switch off easily location or turn on and off the mobile internet.

That was the vital thing for me.

On screen displays also of course are welcomed back.

Someone mentioned some problem with the fan and i saw in the description of the driver that it installs some intelligent cooling system or something, well when i am rendering videos indeed the T460p with i7 6820 HQ does get hot (even 97C) but i am using a little small software called TPFan which has some options to boost a bit the fans (maybe this helps the person that posted something about the fan or others)

Thank you guys!

Same here with Win7Pro64, T430s, rollback to 1.67.14.4 and reboot worked, thanks a lot.

Rolling back Lenovo PM Device to previous version worked for me, it brought back all the hotkeys and OSD screens.

Thanks a lot!

all you have to do is manually start the 2 services post every reboot, which is something i perhaps do 1 time a week.

If you configure both services to do a  delayed automatic start, then both services will start automatically. Usually the delay is 2 minutes after the last  'automatic' (non delayed) service was started.

So, if you login right away when system has booted, both services will not be available yet. Wait for 2 more minutes, than usually both services will be active and OSD woll work properly.

Just an update, today i noticed that it was switched back to the latest drivers, so i just rolled it back and again it is working, even after a restart.

I dont understand why it is rolling it to the newest version since i dont have anywhere set up the windows to do automatic updates.

But at least its a small sacrifice, although annoying.
