Lenovo T490 (20N2) overheating processor and keyboard

2020-07-26, 6:27 AM

A few months ago I migrated from a T430 to a T490, but, I have noticed that the processor stays very hot, and this worsens when I connect a monitor to the external HDMI port, the heat on the keyboard surface begins to heat up in such a way that it becomes uncomfortable to write several lines in an email. Performance falls apart and doesn't feel like a 4 core laptop with an M.2 NVME disk.

All drivers and controllers have already been updated, but the symptom continues. Adding a base of 5 fans at the bottom does not improve anything. The most affected area is from the middle of the laptop to the left edge.

Any suggestion.

Do you have the right driver for your NVME drive? BIOS and all patches Windows, Lenovo and Intel installed. I have a P43s which is same as the T490 in many ways but no such problem. Am using a dock though. I dont recall any problems pre use of a dock.
