Lenovo ThinkPad T430 UltraNav Function Key (Fn + F8) Alternatives ***Feedback Appreciated

2013-01-12, 3:49 AM

I have noticed that the ThinkPad T430 does not come with a function key available like previous versions. I want to be able to toggle between the TrackPoint and TouchPad as I did previously with the F8 function key. After conducting some research, I have found 2 possible alternatives.

1) Locate the Mouse icon in Control Panel. Click and drag it to the Desktop to create a shortcut for easy access. This would allow the the UltraNav settings to be accessed after double-clicking the link.

2) Based on a user guide found online (t430_ug_en.pdf), an UltraNav icon can be added to the Windows notification area for easy access as followed below.

These are okay solutions. But I was wondering if there were other alternatives that allows for toggling between the different UltraNav settings via the use of a keyboard shortcut instead. If so, some feedback would be appreciated.

Hi, HelloWorld

I did some research around the KnowledgeBase and found this article on remapping Fn + (FX) key combinations. It may give you some assistance on making that Fn + F8 a possibility.

Hope it helps,

Lot of thanks for the link.

I solved this issue with for information

I edited the registry and change the behaviour for FN+F7, quite unuseful, since is switch video ouput, the same as WIN+P.

Now FN+F7 launch enable/disable trackpoint & touchpad, quite more useful.

Obviously, you have to install Ultranav Utility.

PD: I think /HOTKEY parameter its not needed.
