Lenovo Vantage Toolbar

2019-03-29, 12:35 PM

Hello everyone,

I've been looking for a solution for this issue for about 2 months and still couldn't find a solution.

When I first received my work T480s ThinkPad, Microsoft Store and Lenovo Vantage were installed and I had the Vantage Toolbar which includes the Battery Gauge and other Useful shortcuts like the Battery Threshold on/off and keyboard backlight control access from the toolbar (when you click on the battery gauge I had plenty of options).

However, I got an issue in my laptop and sent it to IT department to format it. When it came back I discovered that there is a new company rule that prevented the Microsoft Store from being installed in all the Laptops/PC's in my company, and Lenovo Vantage was not pre-installed as they installed their own image on the ThinkPad.

So I had to download Lenovo Vantage for Windows 10 from this link https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/hf003321 and everything works fine but unfortunately there is no battery gauge nor toolbar even when I right click on the taskbar and go to the toolbar dropdown. The battery gauge has no option to turn it on or off in the Vantage app as well (The threshold and the battery gauge RESET is there though). I uninstalled the system foundation and vantage app and reinstalled them with no luck, I tried the battery-fix https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Vantage-Knowledge-Base/How-to-fix-Lenovo-Vantage-Toolbar-Battery-Gauge/ta-p/4217326 in this link but it just brings the battery gauge without the quick access for the other toggles (threshold on/off button).

I really appreciate your support as this issue is driving me crazy and I really need that toolbar options.

Look in this folder:  C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ImController\Plugins\LenovoBatteryGaugePackage\x64

And tell me the version of LenovoBatteryGaugePackage.dll

Note that C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder but if you copy and paste entire red string into File Explorer, it will open the folder.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sadly, the folder is not there. I navigated to the folder manually and found only the below plugins which is related to battery/power. I would appreciate your input in this, which will make my life easier to control the battery threshold as sometimes I know that I will spend lots of time outside the office and away from my dock, and a turning off the battery threshold to get the extra juice is essential.

  • ThinkPowerPlugin
  • ThinkBatteryStretchPlugin
  • ThinkBatteryPlugin
  • GenericBatteryInformationPlugin

Thanks

It looks like Lenovo System Interface Foundation (LSIF) installation is not complete.  There should be 30+ folders inside plugins folder, not just those 4 you found.  To troubleshoot this, I recommend uninstalling LSIF by following instructions in below link:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT506070

Then re-install it from the following link:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105970

After installation complete and reboot, check the plugins folder again.

I apologize for my unclear previous reply. There are lots of folders there, around 30 as you mentioned. However, the ones that I listed are the only ones related to battery or power. Lots of other folders there from not related to battery.

However, when I go to the office tomorrow I will call IT department to uninstall it as I don't have admin privilages. I will post back the result.

Regards,

Hey there,

Apologies for the late reply as it was a holiday and could't perform the reinstallation.

However, I reinstalled the system foundation again today with the same result. No battery gauge available. I appreciate your input

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have another idea.  I know the toolbar works.  I just set up a new Win10 installation with Vantage and System Interface Foundation, and the toolbar is there.  But, there might be some policy in your IT department's image that prohibits toolbars.

Maybe you should install this "Lenovo Power Manager" instead?
