Re:Lenovo Vantage intelligent cooling (power management) does not change with windows performance setting

eventually the Lenovo speed indicator icon will disappear

I guess you are talking about the small red speedometer icon, the design is that it only appears for a few seconds to let you know that the mode changed.  It is not supposed to stay there permanently.  I have a 20UD here and I haven't noticed any reduction in speed after a few seconds at "best performance".  What are you using to measure this?

Hi, you are correct. I was assuming that something was crashing causing the power plan to reset. I did some further investigation and I think it's an incorrect throttling issue. I've attached two screenshots that show the CPU usage, sensor data from hwinfo, and the basic multi-core cpu-z benchmark running.

While the Windows power slider is on "Best Performance" the cpu power peaks at 25watts and holds at 23watts , which I believe to be correct. However after an unknown event or usage the limit changes to 11watts. The only way to resolves this is to change the Windows power slider to another value then back to performance. In both instances the temperature is well below the max and according to hwinfo the throttle reason on the STAPM (package power?) is the CPU PPT FAST value.   Just in case this was a short period of boost I let both run for much longer (not indicated in screenshots) at the two different limits. When everything is working I can maintain 23watts for the cpu and a cpu-z score between 3800-4000 for 15 mins. When the package limit changes to 11watts I can also hold that for 15 mins. It doesn't matter how long the benchmark runs, if I stop it and start it, or other applications running, the limit holds until the power slider is changed.

To reproduce:

1.Set Windows power slider to Best Performance

2.Restart Windows

3.Run stress test in cpu-z and check STAPM value in hwinfo

4.Stop test

5.Change Windows power slider to any other value then back to Best Performance

6.Run stress test in cpu-z and check STAPM value in hwinfo

This causes a significant performance decrease, I'm hoping you could verify these values or maybe determine why my system might be having these problems.

Specs: T14 UD 4750u, 32gb (2 chip), and Windows 1909 or 2004 (I tried both just in case)

Drivers: Lenovo Intelligent Thermal Solution 1.0.1.359, Lenovo Power Manager 10.0.127.0, Lenovo PM Device 1.67.17.51

PROPER PERFORMANCE

LOW PERFORMANCE

Are you using latest BIOS version 1.09?  Beyond this I don't have any suggestion.  You are not having the issue that was originally reported in this thread and I'm afraid your issue may get lost unless you start a new thread.

Yes. I have no problem opening a support ticket. I would like to see if someone with a T14 4750u has the same cpu-z score though.
