Looking to Upgrade T430 Screen

2014-01-18, 10:15 AM

I previously had a dell Lattitude E6400 and the screen was very good and bright and the colours true. I have now purchased a T430 and the screen is nowhere near as good. I have changed the values in Intel HD graphics but whilst better still not as good as the screen I had before with the dell.

The screen I have is 1600 x 900 with Intel HD Graphics 400.

Could I not simply upgrade to a different screen to bring my T430 to life?

What is the best independent brand screen for my T430 which would be compatable?

The deatils of my present one are:-

Monitor Name : Lenovo: B140R102 V1

Monitor Name (Manuf): B140RW02 V1

Serial Number - unknown

Monitor Hardware ID: Monitor\Len40A1

I am not lookig for a retina display just a screen that shows true colours and brightness and has better viewing angles.

Any help appreciated.

Did you calibrate it yet?  If not, here are the ideal settings for my 1080 AUO v4

If so, and you're still set on an upgrade, I prefer AUO matte panels, but you have plenty of both 900 and 1080 options.

Thanks for the reply

Having looked into this further they have said that if I try and get a compatible screen the brightness and colour would be the same as my existing screen but just from a different manufacturer?

Is this correct?

Thanks

I'm interested in upgrading too as this (1600×900, so still the better) is very poor but the T440's IPS panel is incompatible: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Replacing_T430_screen_with_a_better_one

Post here if you find something better, please.

^   You've got both AUO and LG 1080p options @ 14".  I prefer the AUO matte.

Farkus, did you actually replace your T430 display? The AUO panels have EDP connector, whereas the LGs have LVDS. How could you fit it in? It's a different cable.

The only other screen that would work in T430 and offers some improvement is the one from the original X1C.

Install this color profile from Notebookcheck. It really improved the look of my AUO display. Lenovo ships the T430/s with a terrible default color profile.
