Max 2 screens...T410s Optimus w/Mini Dock 3 Plus

2011-05-29, 17:03 PM

I currently have 2 external LCDs hooked up to my Mini-Dock 3 Plus.

I can't seem to get ther 2 LCDs and computer monitor working simultaneously.   I have tried all the possible configurations with DPs and DVI cables.

I have of course followed the direction/instructions here.

T410s w/Nvidia Optimus; 4338-10U Mini Dock Plus; 90W (stock adapter), bios is set to switchable - and in the power manager, set to 'high performance' when on a/c

There were T410s model with switchable graphics card, which only support 2 monitors. Are you sure you got the optimus model?

I can't find any information on it and spent 40 minutes on the phone with tech support who wasn't very helpful or knowledgeable.   The solution was 'take it to the hardware centre' rather than try to confirm/deny the optimus...

When I purchased the computer all the info on the Lenovo website explicitly said the Nvidia Quadro NVS 3100m was Optimus... including the Nvidia website...

Hi paradiddle!

According to the tabook, the 2904-GEU has switchable graphics, and it supports dual displays. Not the answer you want :smileysad:, but it explains what you are seeing. Some NVS 3100M machines are switchable, some are Optimus.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

I did a lot of research into the exact specs I needed for my comp.   T410s w/Nvidia was labelled as Optimus on the website and when I called in.     It was purchased in late November. First use was a couple weeks before Christmas.    I am not sure what store he picked it up from...received it as a gift

*I should correct my post above... I didn't actually purchase this unit myself

hum, you must got the old stock. Only those shipped from Lenovo after mid October 2010 got the optimus.

What is the manufacturing date of your machine, it should be listed on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

Either August or Sept. This makes sense because my warranty officially started in August even though first use was Dec. When I heard about the warranty issue, I just assumed that sometimes they keep the boxes on the shelves when they're not custom orders.

I should dig up the spec sheet... I'm pretty sure it explicitly says optimus for the multiple screens. I also confirmed this months back. I now have a few very nice IPS screens that are sitting blank!!

If I didn't need multiple screens I would have gone with an X-Series. My old T61 isn't that much of a step up from this...
