My T480 take more than 35 sec to shutdown

2018-06-21, 15:22 PM

Dear All,

I appreciate your help in advnace. my T480 take more than 35 sec to shut down, but I find it weird compared to my old T540p, or other T480 devices on the show in Lenovo stores.

It starts up normall (within <10 secs).

FYI, it is equiped with PCIe-NVme 981 512 Gb.

Any solution?

Bios update did not help , so I rolled back to the 1st version coz the lastest 2 version make the fan kicks annoyably at every start-up!

If you are facing this type of issue that it is taking much time to shutdown then you should upgrade the firmware and android version from Microsoft Office Support so that the internal issue of the shutdown will be resolved and you will not face any such kind of issues

Does restarting work OK?  If so, try disable fast startup.

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options

Click on "Choose what the power buttons do" (on the left side)

Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (near the top)

Then uncheck the box "Turn on fast startup" (near the bottom)

thanks a lot for the reply. It worked indeed, it shuts down now in 18 sec. However, the start up now takes loner time (before 11 sec, now 25 sec)!

It seems this is the cost effect to shutdown quickly, unless there is a solution for that.

The slow shutdown definitely doesn't happen in the factory preload.  My guess is that some software you have installed makes the "Fast Startup" option take long time.  It's probably your AV, firewall, or security software.  If you want to experiment more, you could re-enable "Fast Startup" and then uninstall your other software, until slow shutdown problem goes away.

I'd love to investigate further.. please walk me through..
I reset my windows couple of weeks ago, and still had the problem. My installations were common.. MsOffice, Avast, Photoshop CS5, Adobe, VLC media player, Lenovo Solution thing..
Nothing unusual..

I would uninstall Avast as the first step to troubleshoot this.
