Re: New SynTPEnh driver 15.2.14.0 eats up my memory!

2011-04-14, 7:23 AM

De-install/Reboot/Re-install didn't work. It still showed up as 15.1.19.0

What did work was the following:

1. Remove c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV directory

2. Re-install

Why? Because (probably from previous installs) c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV\ contained all kind of old drivers. When i removed that directory and unpacked the new install file, it unpacked to c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV\WinWDF\ instead. Under c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV\WinWDF\ you find x64/ and x86/ directories.For example the files i needed were in c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV\WinWDF\x64\, however when i didn't manually remove c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV it took the old files instead. So Windows, or the installer, uses a search path, where c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV comes before c:\Drivers\WIN\UNAV\WinWDF\x64\

Re: New SynTPEnh driver 15.2.14.0 eats up my memory!

after reviewing the Software Download pages, it seems that ThinkVantage Tools and several items aren't up to the latest spec either ???

I should get some free time later this week to download and install all the necessary items, seems crazy that the automated tools aren't showing me the updates (and this on a new 410 purchased in Feb)!

The same story here with T43.

At the moment SynTPEnx.exe has the highest memory usage 473,688 K.

Yes, ColonelONeill, it's not, but my bigger concern is if Lenovo isn't keeping the system update data up to date, or even consistent with the site, then it seems we cannot rely on that tool and might as well stop using it entirely and go back to tracking all updates the hard way. If everyone takes  the attitude of oh well I'll just download it manually, and doesn't complain, then there's that much less motivation for Lenovo to get on the ball with that tool.

@ericjs

In regards to the TVSU update on the drivers. I've forwarded your concern to the team.
