No option to enable virtualization on BIOS

2021-05-17, 15:58 PM

Hi, I use Thinkpad T430 running on Windows 10 version 20H2. From the BIOS the virtualization technology is disabled and no option to enable it as it can't be selected.. It's on Legacy mode. Can some please help. Thanks.

Hello Eronwa!

Welcome to community forums.

What is the current BIOS version of the computer? Have you tried changing it to UEFI instead of Legacy mode?

Let us know.

There is no virtualization option, or there is but it can't be selected?  Please clarify.

Is your BIOS password-protected?

Hi, thanks for reaching out am not sure it's password-protected as I can access the BIOS at any time. Just that no option to enable visualization it's simply not selectable. Thanks

I suggest that you share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant.

Checking on the certified Win10 20H2 list seems that the model is not included.

Would you have this option previously?

Are you prompted for a password when you enter BIOS setup?  If you have a Supervisor password set you can still access BIOS Setup without it by hitting ENTER but you won't be able to change settings.  That seems to be what you are describing.

Re:No option to enable virtualization on BIOS

Hi thanks for your help, no password is requested when entering BIOS setup and I was able to setup hard drive password, just to check if I can make changes on BIOS, it's obvious that I can, Just that the virtualization is disabled and it's not selectable and can't be enabled.
