<PowerMgr.exe> 0x0000007E The specified module could not be found.

2020-09-14, 11:55 AM

I have a new T490. Yesterday, an error message started appearing on startup:

I looked for Powermgr.exe and found it in two places:

c:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\powermgr.inf_amd64_c17ccb223b68b743\PowerMgr.exe

c:\Windows\SysWOW64\Lenovo\PowerMgr\PowerMgr.exe

When I looked into this, it looks like the correct location is supposed to be the "c:\Windows\SysWOW64\Lenovo\PowerMgr\" folder. However, when the program is executed, that's when the error message appears. The error message does not appear when the program is executed from this folder: "c:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\powermgr.inf_amd64_c17ccb223b68b743\"

Can anyone in this forum or from Lenovo please tell me (and others with the same issue) how do I correct the error, please?

TIA

We are aware of this problem.  Sorry for this trouble.  Although the below link is about a different error message, I believe the same steps can be used to solve it.  Could you please try it and let me know?

Thanks, I followed the link and it totally remedied my problem.  Brand new machine - hate to see these little errors!
