Print Screen

2009-07-31, 16:21 PM
I have a T500 2089-2ku running Vista Business 64-bit OS and Office 2007. I can not get the "Print Screen" button to print my screen. Can anyone tell me what I am doing that is wrong?

So you hit print screen then try to paste into a new image file?

dickusvi,

If you're not familiar with PrtSc, in a graphical environment, it merely copies the current screen or desktop ("screenshot" or "screen capture") to the clipboard.  You must then paste it somewhere.  After pasting, you can then save or print the file.

One of the easiest ways to use PrtSc is to paste the copied contents to workspace within the resident MS Paint application, as PrtSc does not print directly from Windows.

The command name has become misleading; it's a throwback to the command-line era (e.g., MS/PC-DOS) when PrtSc actually sent the contents of a character-mode screen buffer to the printer port.

Although Paint's default file format is the awkward .bmp, you can save your screen caps as efficient .jpgs. Incidentally, Alt+PrtSc will capture the currently selected (active) window.
