Problems with installing Product Recovery

2009-06-28, 15:35 PM

Hello,

I´ve got a new Harddisc an wanted to install windows with the product recovery CD/DVDs of my T400. But this doesn´t work. I always get a mistake message that "\windows\system32\winload.exe" is missing. I found no explanation for this and need some help now. The old HDD I don´t want to use, because I want to install completely new. Who is able to give me some advice?

Is it a brand new drive? Are there any existing partitions on it?

When do you get this message?

Is the old hard drive bad?

Hello and thanks for answering so quickly.

it is a new disc without any partition. I get this message when I boot with the product recovery start CD. The old disc is not bad, but I just wanted to install a clean system.

Put the old hard drive back in, save any valuable data to optical disc, restore the old hard drive to new condition using the onboard restore, burn another set of restore discs and try to install on the new hard disc again.

If it still does not work you probably have a malfunctioning optical drive.
