Could you please explain "dead"? Only in software or really hardware dead?

Sadly I also gave up hoping for a new driver and switched to "dedicated only". Really don't know why I paid that much money for such poor support (not only gfx but also UMTS etc.). For my next machine I will have to go back to Dell ...

ashenkin,

that problem happens if you have 3gb ram, and the solution is to disable one of the virtualization options in the bios, AFAIK the one with vt-d infrastructure.

Well I'm guessing its hardware.  If i try to boot with integrated only all I get is blank screen that flashes from time to time.  It'll display parts of the desktop and continue to flash til it eventually freezes.  Through all of this I am unable to do anything with the mouse or keyboard.

I am able to get into safe mode fine with integrated only however;  i'm not sure if safe mode utilitzes the integrated card though.

I really wanted to love Lenovo and was a huge supporter right until these problems started.  I wont be coming back and will go Dell or Apple next.

If you set the BIOS to integrated and are able to boot into safe mode your hardware is probably okay. Try to do a system restore to get the old driver back.

well looks like its not.

i just reformatted my hdd and reinstalled w7 and before any new drivers or windows updates could be installed i rebooted and restarted in integrated only;  it started to crash immediately.

I stand corrected. Good luck for getting it fixed.

Is it known if Lenovo even works on updated switchable graphics drivers for Win Vista and 7?

It's just incredible: The feature that was highly praised and meant to be the most revolutionary feature of T400/T500-Series, turns out to be the weakest link of all components built into these models, since it's the only component where you have to rely on Lenovo for driver updates. And Lenovo seems to leave us out in the rain!

Another two weeks passed. I wonder whether it will take Lenovo more time to release a driver than doing a PhD. Bets are on!

I wonder why one should buy extended warranty, accidental damage protection, etc, if not even basic product support is provided. Ideas anyone?

I think it's time to make this development more public.

Someone may say it's only a driver issue, but on the one hand it's a very important one (relating to a main feature). On the other hand this situation allows conclusions to the policy of the whole company.

If this problem will not be solved by the end of this month, I will contact several magazines.

Indeed, it's a shame that this advertised  key feature is not functioning as designed! But what's worse is that it's consistently ignored and not acknowledged. It's a thing to make a mistake. Another thing is how you handle it. I'm not impressed.
