Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting the update. I'm sure several of us find this really useful. We'll give it a try and check if the problem is solved.

Thank you for the update!

On my machine (276552G) it works properly: when waking up from sleep in integrated graphics mode  the GPU of the dedicated graphics is active for a few second but then shuts down.

The screen brightness feature works fine.

Re: R400/T400/T500/W500: Switchable graphics issues with Win 7 - FIXED AT LAST?

Since my last post, my T500 still had overheating issues and was still shutting down so it went to the support center and had the MB replaced.

Since, all those issues have gone away.

Previously I had removed the lenovo video drivers and installed the Catalyst (10.8) drivers which did enable switchable graphics (there were no options present anywhere on my system prior to that time) (posting on page 16 of this thread)

So, I am trying to decide if I should mess with these new lenovo drivers.  my battery life seems fine.  I have a 9 cell battery and can get anywhere from 3.5 hrs to 8 hrs depending on my settings (Especially,  screen brightness when on battery power) My LED brightness hot key has always worked.

If I do decide to try them, what would be recommended?  Completely uninstall The ATI drivers prior to giving these a shot?

Also, any reason that these new drivers are not on the driver matrix for download?

Finally a solution!  Works like a charm Mark.

Wakes up from sleep and stays in Energy Saving mode - if that's where I left it.  Also, if the unit is in sleep mode with the lid closed, I can wake it via an external mouse, open the lid, and the sign-in screen is now visible.  In the past, it remained dark.  Sweet!

The new driver does indeed show up on the actual MIGR as 2010/11/15, but shows up in the driver matrix list as the old October 13th, 2009 build.

Problem With Starting CCC after Upgrade on 64 bit Win 7 T400.

"Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation, Version=2.0.3524.37250,Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT:0x801131040)"

I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this. My best attempt at a full uninstall and reinstall of the driver/CCC was ineffective.

france:

This can happen if you uninstall / reinstall or do an upgrade of CCC, IF certain assembly files are not properly GAC’ed during install, or removed from the GAC during uninstall (.Net “global assembly cache”).

Uninstalling CCC (Ati drivers), and then:

1. Check that (Program Files folder )/ATI Technologies/ATI.ACE is empty

2. Check (Windows folder)/Assembly folder to see if there's any files with Public Key Token of "90ba9c70f846762e" (Sort by Public key token to get a easier view). All these tokens should be uninstalled by right clicking and uninstalling.

3. Check that (Document and Settings)/(User)/AppData/Local/ATI/ACE is empty
vagy: "c:\Documents and Settings\(User)\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE\"

4. Reinstall CCC (Ati drivers)

No luck. Uninstalled the CCC and driver via the Lenovo installer. Then proceeded through all 4 steps. However, ATI.ACE, a public key token  of 90ba (etc), or ATI/ACE could not be located at the indicated locations. Upon reinstall of driver, the error returned.

The Windows 7 x64 ATI driver installation appears broken. This issue does not occur when I run the 32-bit ATI driver setup.

When I click install or uninstall in setup (for x64) this occurs:

Re: R400/T400/T500/W500: Switchable graphics issues with Win 7

For what it's worth, these are the problems I'm having with the new driver (8.752.4...) using the discrete graphics (T500, Win 7 x64, HD 3650):

Using my only 3D app, Madden 08 PC (no wisecracks please), movement "stutters": a couple of times a second, movement will stop for a split-second and then jump forward. I almost prefer the integrated graphics: it may be slow, but it's consistent. Changing 3D settings, or re-installing the driver, does not eliminate this problem; installing the old (8.641.1.1) driver fixes it.

When I connect an Acer monitor via the mini-dock, the adapter often fails to recognize the 1600x1050 native resolution of the monitor. The screen resolution app doesn't provide a 1600x1050 choice -- to get to the native resolution, I must reboot or switch to the integrated graphics.

A different problem, where the PC hangs with a black screen when going to sleep or waking from sleep, I've experienced with the old or the new driver.

I've reverted to the old driver. Let's see what the next one looks like.
