Screen brightness problems

2021-04-11, 7:41 AM

Hi,

There is a setting somewhere in the Lenovo Vantage setup that overrides the normal brightness control inside Windows and make my laptop T14 unusable. I found it half a year ago but now I cannot find this setting.

Once the laptop is connected to power the display brightness is normal but on battery power the screen brightness is darker. It is not a setting inside Windows as far as i know. the brightness control inside windows is max and the only option to change this is to put in the power adapter.

Tto me it is strange to make a software to control screen brightness that Windows from the beginning is very good at.

How to find/change this setting?

Hello Bk44ff

Welcome to community forums

You can try uninstalling the Lenovo Vantage app including the Vantage services then reinstall it from the Microsoft store.

You can try these steps:

Go to Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Power Options --> Click on Change plan settings --> Click on Change advanced power settings

Scroll down to Display--> under Enable adaptive brightness, switch it off for both the battery and plugged in modes

Let us know how it goes.

I had the same problem with the dynamic screen brightness and I finallly found the solution in my T14s. There is a tool (crapware) called AMD Radeon Software which has a setting for variable brightness. Deactivate it and enjoy the peace of mind.
