Someone here running reliably and steadily two different O/S (on 2 different HDD) in his T5xx ??

2012-08-14, 21:43 PM

I actually do run WinXP on the primary HDD (which indeed is a SSD and is numbered "0" by the Bios) and I managed to install and run a license of Win 7 on a 2nd HDD in the HDD-bay instead of having there the CD/DVD but after a few weeks when I boot from the 2nd device (which is numbered "1" by the BIOS) the only thing I get is the start menü for the install procedure, the so-called Rescue & Recovery by Lenovo ......

Can anyone help me pls? .... What is wrong here?

Thanks

Hey Icarni,

Did you make any changes before the issue started? From what I can tell it seems that on the second HDD where you have your second OS is missing. Could you post a screen shot of that HDD just so we can be sure that the OS is still there and that we could have a pointing issue or something is funky with BIOS.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Well, I tried several times during the past 3 yrs ... and obtain always the same results, sometimes it took only 3-4 starts until the issue comes, sometimes it takes a few weeks but soon or later the 2nd OS doenst start. No I did no changes, it is always the same .... it runs for a few re-boots .... or it runs for a few weeks ..... I cant reproduce it. How can I insert here a pic with the HDD ?

Hey icarni,

What I wanted was partition screen shot where you would bring up say disk management for the HDD and it would show all the partitions for that drive, hit screen shot paste it into say paint and post it. Can you post your BIOS version? I will see if I can load a second HDD into on of our T5xx and recreate the problem though with what you say it could be difficult.

Best Regards,

Hiro

Hey Icarni,

I know this sounds silly but did you check your hard drive connections? I had a thought that it could be a loss or fraying connection cord that could cause this problem given how it so random when it happens. Also when the OS wont load does BIOS still show the HDD? I know this is difficult to do being as the problem is not easily reproduced.

Best Regards,

Hiro

This is not the problem. When I run the OS on disk 0 it can read the content on disk "1", it is available ... but I cant boot from.

Let me clarify my last input. By pressing while booting F11 (or is it F12??) I access the menue where I can select the HDD to boot from .... it offers me always both and I select the 2nd one and Rescue & Recovery comes ..... I am even not sure if it starts from the disk "0" or disk "1" as I think both have the R&R routine hidden .... right?
