Re: Someone here running reliably and steadily two different O/S (on 2 different HDD) in his T5xx ??

2012-08-17, 10:28 AM

Hiro, pls take a look on the picture I inserted. Note that partitio "e:\" is set non-active. Using this Partition Master I easily can set it active but it requires a re-boot, the software tells me.

If I did so, the system will start the default disk, that is disk 1 in this example but not disk 2 where the software is supposed to make any changes .... right?

Question is: If I am using the 2nd O/S and restart the notebook .... why does it re-start with the 1st one, only because it is selected in the BIOS? ... This option doesnt make sense in an environment where 2 O/S exist. If I wanted to change the O/S I enter the Menue F11 (or ist is F12?) and start from whereever I want ......

I more and more do think the issue is with the BIOS .... dont know what it does (when 2 O/S running) but it does it wrong :-) ....

Who/what ususally changes the active/non-active attribute? ... I did no changes on my T500 ... I enter sometimes the BIOS and changed cant-remember-what .... I more and more think, this is a BIOS issue .....

I moved the disk "1" into the "0" slot with no 2nd disk inserted and voilá, it booted and the O/S runs without problems ..... I moved then the disk "1" back into the ultrabay and put disk "0" in its slot and both O/S work!!! ...

Is it magic ???... Lenovo ??? I dont know ......

I will play with the 2 systems and change some BIOS settings and will reply if problems persist.

Thanks for now.
