Re: System Variable Storage Corrupted

Okay so same problem as everyone here.  I did find a rock solid posting here.  I would suggest scroll down the page until you get to the title "Refresh the DISM software".  Follow it to a T.  This found errors that I could not detect with all other scans.  I feel relieved this may have addressed the issue we're all seeing.  If not, I'll report back.  This is a customer PC and they will let you know what's up :)

Here's a photo of what I found and what was reported from the scan.

Re: System Variable Storage Corrupted

Same problem, but intermittent. Sometimes I get the error; and <esc> loads the OS Win 10 Pro 64 OK.  I have a W540.

(FWIW, this is NOT a workstation, but a Lenovo/Windows aspiration to Chromebookism.  Nothing but problems. My T430s is a real workstation in physical configuration, albeit underpowered by today's systems)

As an aside, another issue lately, the Fn key do not load.  My BIOS settings set to Fn key, seem to revert back to the useless Webbook keys.  Not good for macros, Excel, Access or Word.  Always need to <Fn><Esc>, which I forget each time I boot up.

Any hint / or solution appreciated.

Re: System Variable Storage Corrupted

I had the same problem on my T440p and Win 10 1809,  I think I managed to solve it.

It occured after installed second Win10 install on a separate drive.

Loud beep followed by:

"System variable Storage is corrupted, using Default Values"

and

"0183: Bad CRC of Security Settings in EFI variable."

All occuring randomly, once every 2-3 reboots.

I tried sfc /scannow and the dism repair sequence, none worked.

For me the solution was to delete some partitions on my main SSD.

[**** please be aware that deleting partitions may result in data loss and/or a unbootable system, proceed with care *****]

The partition table looked something like

1. [100mb] EFI partition

2. [240gb] Operating System - drive C:

3. [~1gb] OEM partition

4. [~1gb] Recovery Partition

5. [240gb] File Storage - drive G:

I used a partition manager (Paragon HDD manager) to delete partitions 3 and 4 and extended the system partition over the left space.

Current partition table:

1. [100mb] EFI partition

2. [240gb] Operating System - drive C:

5. [240gb] File Storage - drive G:

Crossed fingers and rebooted. The system rebooted itself a couple of times, bios settings seemed to be reset because bios disabled Secure Boot and original Lenovo splash screen appeared, but it finally started.

Boot menu was reset, the second windows instalation was no longer listed, but my main one worked, and no more bios error messages.

Hope that is useful.

I personally deleted the entire disk, no extra partitions (except the EFI) and I still get the issue. I am pretty sure, at least on my case that it was one of the latest firmware update. I am unable to rollback.
