brilliant...i absolutely love it!

and i don't have any problems others encountered either, the random shutdowns, or whatever

that said the palm rest near the harddisk is cracked...

but since it has a rollcage, i'm not too worried about the crack...it's merely cosmetic as far as i'm concerned

Had mine since late July and have had zero problems.

Kind of took it all for granted until I recently fired up my previous laptop (a  2007 vintage HP dv2214 also with 14" screen) and was struck by the differences-- the older machine runs so much noiser, heavier, and hotter than the SSD-equipped T400s.

i can understand many T400 users may feel frustrated for their laptop when they compare it to T400s

Hey. Just register so I can answer this... :)

I bought my T400S for boxing day and got it in January. The machine is superb, exactly what I wanted from a laptop.

The only thing that made me upset is that I understood that it will have wwan card in it  but it doesn't... so it doesn't have the GPS capability either. On their webiste it says "wwan ready" and I didn't catch that... ready means you can install it but it doesn't have it. Either way I would have bought it but it was frustrating when I was explained by their customer service that (this is after calling 6 times and speaking to different people, each with a different answer and level of knowledge).

yea..."ready" means all the antennas are in place...all you need to do is add the card
