My OP discussed the T480 and T14. The T480 is the largest footprint currently.

On your T14 do you have the model with only UHD Graphics or do you have the one like I do with Nvidia as well?  In fact that goes for everyone.  For those of us that have issues do you have Intel UHD only or Intel UHD/Nvidia graphics?

thanks!

UHD only. Though I'm much mroe concerned in this thread about the 480. I have 1 of 200? T14 gen 1 with this issue, I have 700 of almost 5,000 480s with this issue.

I haven't had the chance to test this yet, but if someone else has the time:

A reply in this thread has a fix that I haven't seen listed here yet:  https://superuser.com/questions/1617971/infamous-0-39-ghz-in-windows-10-issue-has-no-fixes

User Dimitri M states:

I had very similar issue at my Lenovo T14 gen.1 (windows 10 ver. 1909). I fixed it. Thanks a lot to @MortenMoulder and @Sendi !

I did the following changes:

  1. BIOS upgraded from 1.17 to 1.19 (this fixed low clock freq. after wake-up)

  2. Drivers upgraded (not sure which exactly helped as I applied many upgrades in one go; there were couple upgrades to power and thermal related devices)

  3. Changed registry as follows (this with driver upgrades fixed low clock frequency during screen-off state !!!)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LITSSVC\IC\CONFIG] "MSC"=dword:00000000

Disabling Modern Standby ("CsEnabled"=0 or "PlatformAoAcOverride"=0) did not help to avoid slow work when the screen is off, but had some other benefits (like all processes stop fully if you put your PC in sleep mode).

Neither helped increasing Minimum Processor state in Power Options, disabling Intel Speed Step and CPU Power management in BIOS (I didn't see any effect from these changes at all).

Changing Windows Power Mode from Better Performance to Best Performance increased CPU clock frequency but did not help against slow work during screen-off state.

Re:T-Series Throttling

I know this post isn't purely about T14s, but today I noticed BIOS was released 1.17 to T14s 20T0
After last week of tests I also noticed that when I am on RDP and clock goes down and also screen goes off the computer thinks that it sleeps (CRAAZY)

So I tried CsEnabled but then I read it was replaced by other registry entry (from Windows 10 2004), so I added:

reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0

now I see:

C:\Users\Username>powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S3)
Hibernate
Hybrid Sleep
Fast Startup

Now I will test this.

EDIT: ok that didn't help. The only thing is that I don't see sleep information in System Log anymore.

@NateInIT - with such high number of Lenovo PCs you have, you should have dedicated person that comes from Asia and look at that problem.

P43s which is a T490 basically with better graphics. No throttling problems here. Have no idea what you guys are complaining about.

Are you on a Lenovo image?  A clean install of Windows?  What Lenovo devices show up in Device Manager>System Devices?  What Lenovo services are running on your machine?

I asked because I have a Intel UHD/Nvidia graphics T14.  I observed this over the last 2 weeks of testing.  If I disable(not uninstall the Nvidia graphics) my problem goes away.  I also notice that Chromacam(what i use instead of green screen) uses a lot of the GPU.  Teams uses around 60-80% and Chromacam will use 30-50%.  Bottom line is it will cause GPU to hit 100% and thats when CPU gets capped at around 800MHz.  If i disable the Nvidia and it runs on Intel only then GPU goes down to 60-80% for some reason and CPU is no longer capped at 800MHz.  Next time I have meeting I am going to see if disabling hardware acceleration will help or not.

Only @NateInIT responded last time.   So I will ask again.  For those of you with issues is it a Intel graphics only or the units with Intel/Nvidia graphics?

thanks!

Re:T-Series Throttling

I didn't want to mix threads about T480/T14/T14s. So I am from other thread with same problem.

We have on the other thread T14s 20T0 (mainly) and that has only Intel GPU. 0,39GHz problem exists.

I have noticed another problem (could be related).

@green5178 can you repeat those steps for me with both GPUs enabled?

1) be on power adapter
2) set through power options that screen turns off after 1 minute of inactivity

3) connect to machine from other machine via RDP

4) wait 1 minute until screen turns off (in Windows Event Viewer -> System you should have 506 - the system is entering connected standby)

5) open Microsoft Edge and hit CTRL+T to open new tab like 40 times or do something else that puts some load on laptop

Here I have 100% repeatability and each time CPU goes below 1,00GHz like Lenovo constantly thinks it sleeps. I wonder if you could repeat that with your T14.

This is not 0,39GHz problem (which is another one) however this is also very interesting. How they can release laptops with such bugs.

Re:T-Series Throttling

Turned out to be a bad lenovo image for us.  Performed a fresh install of Windows, deleted all partitions to get rid of lenovo's driver store, let Windows handle drivers, and all is working without issue.  Main problem was that fans wouldn't spin up while docked.

If you need to redeploy quickly, build an mdt sequence that follows the above rules and use profwiz or usmt/usmtgui to back up your user profiles and restore.

Good luck all.
