About my order T410s

2010-03-17, 19:03 PM

I order a T410s on March 5, 2010.  When I was ordering, the website show that this item will be shipped with 1 or 2 weeks. But righnow, when I check my order and ask about my ship date. Lenovo told me it will be shipped on April 8. But I will be moving to other place on March 31. I don't know should I change my address information or not. The order status is in processing. The ship mehod is standerd free shipping. I don't know how can I handle it.

Anyone help me?

Thanks

T410s order saga continues

2010-03-17, 20:35 PM

The web site now says 5/4/10 for mine, so I called to complain. The rep claimed it's actually going to ship out next week. We'll see what happens - if it hasn't shipped by the end of the month, I'm probably going to cancel and order an Elitebook. There's only so long I'm willing to wait.

My shipping date was just changed from 4/29 to 3/19. I guess Lenovo will try everything to fulfill orders before the end of Q1... I wish them luck :smileytongue:

Re: T-series shipping thread - 2010 edition

I ordered a T410s on March 8th. At that time the web site said it would ship in 9 business days. After I placed the order, the estimated shipping date remained blank for 2 days, and then it was stated as 3/19/2010. Today the estimated shipping date changed to 4/8/2010. There was no email or call from Lenovo to explain this delay of more than 2 weeks. What are they thinking??????? This is really poor customer service.

I can understand that certain parts may be in short supply, but that is no excuse for keeping your customers uninformed like this.

I had a ship date for a T510 that was ordered on 3/11 as 4/8, I looked today and it says shipped with a tracking number. I has a HD+ display if that's important to anyone.

As far as I can tell, the T410s shipping dates are updated by a fixed increment that depends when yours is updated, and have absolutely no bearing on reality.

My order from almost a month before yours (2/11) still hasn't shipped, depending who you believe it's either going to ship next week (customer service rep) or 5/4 (web site). If you have any sort of time constraint on when you need the machine, consider yourself warned!

The worst part is the utter lack of communication from Lenovo - there isn't even so much as an automated e-mail when the shipping date on the web site changed. Would adding that to whatever script updates ship dates really be too much to ask?

I can excuse delays with good communication and properly set expectations. But this is a mess on so many fronts...

I agree, 100%.  Their current system really comes off very unprofessionally.

Re: T-series shipping thread - 2010 edition

2010-03-18, 23:43 PM

After reading all the positive reviews I ordered a new 410s on 3/6/10 from the Lenovo web site.  The web site said the estimated ship date was 3/19/10 which, while not great, met my needs.  In contrast Dell in shipping within 48 hours.  I checked on the status a couple of times since then and it always said 3/19/10.  If you click on the more info link it tells you the feature is not available but to check back in a few minutes.  In the last 12 days the feature has never worked and the popup window keeps telling you to check back in a few minutes - worthless.

Today I checked and the estimated ship date is 3/31/10.  Wow, almost double the original estimate on the day before the order was supposed to ship. This really is a problem for me since I am starting a new job on 4/1/10 and need to fly to Israel on the 9th. This is not just an issue of  impatience - I really do need the computer before that date.  Since the website was useless I called customer service and spoke to a very polite but completely unhelpful person in India.  I explained my situation but the customer service rep could give me no additional information and did not offer to do anything to help.  When I asked to speak to someone who could actually help the customer service person basically refused saying there was no one there who could tell me anything more.

I have been a loyal Thinkpad used for over 10 years.  I have had several Thinkpads and have specified them for use in my last three companies.  While I was somewhat skeptical when Lenovo took over I must admit had been impressed - until now. This latest interaction makes me feel that Lenovo no longer places importance on customer service. Customer service does not simply mean a telephone number and someone to tell you what you can already learn from the website.  Lenovo's customer service reps do not have access to any real information and are not empowered to help.  Worse yet, there does not appear to be any mechanism in place to escalate an issue to someone who can help.  For example, I would have been willing to pay expedited shipping if it had been offered.  A real customer service organization would have been able to give me a real ship date and offered to expedite the order at their cost if it were necessary.

I really did want to try a new 410s but as it now stands I am in a catch 22 since I no longer have confidence in the 3/31/10 ship date but don't want to cancel the order if it actually will be here in time.  I really do not wan to have to go buy an HP from one of the big box stores.  Does anyone out there have a contact inside Lenovo that actually cares and is in a position to help ?
