T14 AMD, allocate more memory to GPU? AutoCAD extremely sluggish.

2020-10-23, 16:14 PM

How can we allocate more memory to the graphics card? Nothing in the BIOS settings.

I'm trying to improve on speed because whenever I run AutoCAD , the system is very sluggish.

Just moving the mouse around to move the crosshairs, the system stutters. More than one full second to move the crosshairs (mouse pointer) after I move the mouse.

It is an unpleasant surprise to get such a problem on software that runs with no delay at all on my old i5 laptop.

Do you have nVIDIA or integrated graphics?

Hello Panos-GR,

You can allocate more memory for your IGPU in the your Bios.

You should go to the Bios, go to Config menu (the second after Main and above (Date/time) go to Display then UMA Frame Buffer Size open the "combo box" and chose between (auto/512/1g/2g)

You could increase your performance in AutoCAD bi allocating 2g...

Keep us informed about the performances of your I-GPU after this ..

Best regards

Found it, thank you!

Unfortunately AutoCAD remains extremely sluggish.... I am using version 2020.

Must be something else..... I'll keep searching.

EDIT: Got it! I had to disable hardware accelaration from within AutoCAD using command GRAPHICSCONFIG.

It seems the Radeon is not compatible with AutoCAD 2020 after all.
